Online Coin Flip

Use our free online coin flip to flip a virtual coin, generate an instant Heads or Tails result, repeat the toss, and review the latest outcomes. Additionally, outcomes are computed privately on your device without sending requests to external servers.

Flip a coin online

Each flip has two equally likely outcomes. Short runs can still contain streaks of Heads or Tails.

Understanding Your Online Coin Flip Results

The latest result shows the newest toss. Furthermore, the summary counts every toss since the last reset, while the history table keeps the 10 most recent outcomes for quick reference.

Heads percentage

Heads count divided by total flips, multiplied by 100.

Tails percentage

Tails count divided by total flips, multiplied by 100.

How to Use the Online Coin Flip Tool

Generate a simple two-choice decision in three steps.

  1. Assign the choices

First, choose which option will be Heads and which will be Tails before the flip.

  2. Flip the coin

Next, select Flip the coin to generate one new independent outcome.

  3. Repeat or reset

Finally, flip again to build a history, or reset to clear all previous results and counts.

How the Online Coin Flip Works

In modern browsers, the tool requests a random byte from the Web Crypto API to simulate a Bernoulli trial. Specifically, it reads its lowest bit where a zero becomes Heads and a one becomes Tails. Because the possible byte values contain equal numbers of zero and one lowest bits, each mapped outcome has a 50% probability.

P(Heads) = 1/2    and    P(Tails) = 1/2

If the Web Crypto API is unavailable, the tool uses the browser’s standard random-number generator as a compatibility fallback. However, no sequence can guarantee that a short sample will contain exactly equal counts.

Worked Online Coin Flip Example and Probability Rules

Equal probability does not mean alternating outcomes.

Worked example

For example, if 6 flips produce 4 Heads and 2 Tails, displayed shares are 66.7% Heads and 33.3% Tails. Consequently, the next flip is still 50% Heads and 50% Tails.

Important probability rules

In addition, each flip is independent. Previous outcomes do not make the opposite side “due,” and a streak does not prove that the virtual coin flipper is biased.

Common Online Coin Flip Use Cases

Use a coin toss when two acceptable options need a neutral tie-breaker.

Everyday decisions

For instance, choose between two meals, activities, routes, or suitable alternatives using our heads or tails coin flip tool.

Games and turn order

Similarly, decide which player or team goes first when no other rule applies by using a coin toss tool.

Probability practice

In fact, run repeated Bernoulli trials with an online coin flip and compare observed counts with expected probability.

Online Coin Flip FAQs

Is this online coin flip fair?

Specifically, the generator maps equally distributed random-bit values to Heads and Tails, so each individual outcome has a 50% probability. Consequently, short sequences can still look uneven by chance.

Can several Heads appear in a row?

Yes. In fact, random results naturally include streaks. Five Heads in a row is unusual but possible and does not change the probability of the next flip.

Does the previous result affect the next flip?

In reality, each generated outcome is entirely independent of the earlier flip history.

How many results are stored?

The totals cover the current session, and the visible table keeps the 10 latest outcomes. However, resetting or leaving the page clears them.

Are my coin flips sent to a server?

Without exception, results and session counts are generated and held inside the current browser page.
